Severe thunderstorm warning ends for Waterloo region

Environment Canada has issued a severe storm watch for Ottawa. Winds could gust up to 90 km/h, and hail as small as a dime.

Meteorologists observed the storms moving in the west towards Ottawa.

The weather agency warned that severe thunderstorms can cause tornadoes.

However, strong wind gusts can still form and toss objects, damage buildings, or break off branches from trees.

The affected areas include Windsor and Sarnia. Amherstburg. Tecumseh. Kingsville. Belle River. Lakeshore. LaSalle. South Windsor. McGregor.

Windsor Airport. Colchester. Harrow. Maidstone, Essex, Cottam, Walpole Island, Port Lambton, Sombra, and Courtright.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management suggests that you immediately take cover if there is threatening weather.
